Jaguar Style Stakes are High at the Dubai World Cup 2014

Fashion One host Lenka Josefiova takes us behind the scenes of the Dubai World Cup 2014 horse-racing event – one of the most important social, sporting and fashion events of the year.

Easily the highlight of the day’s events is the Jaguar Style Stakes, in which all those competing for the crown of best dressed wear their most fashionable threads.

Model and Yahoo host Jessica Kahawaty says of the competition, “Jaguar is a very classy and elegant brand so I’m just looking for a girl who’s elegant, who’s embodying the spirit of Jaguar of the Dubai World Cup and someone who’s just natural and having fun with it all – that’s my criteria.” Kawahaty says her own style varies between super girly and more casual.

Attendee Karolina Konieczna won the prize for Most Creative Hat with a creation that resembled a gigantic bouquet of oversized white flowers, and was thrilled with her win. Michael Morcos and Natalia Shustova were the winners of the Best Dressed Couple award. “I am beyond happy right now!” exclaimed Shustova. Jessica McAndrews revealed that she was shocked to win Most Elegant Lady, but felt that it was an honor.

The Best Dressed Lady category had the highest number of participants, but Sarah Jayne Heart stole the judges’ hearts with her ‘Nature Woodland’ inspired number.

Horse races would not be horse races without ladies’ hats, and hat designer Evoleen proudly created nine hats to be worn on the day, with five showing up in the various fashion competitions. Her own hat was a last minute creation, made just before the races started.
